Who are the Sisters of Mercy?
The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas are an international community of Roman Catholic women vowed to serve people who suffer poverty, sickness, and ignorance, with a special concern for women and children. They address human needs through collaborative efforts in education, healthcare, housing, and pastoral and social service in ways that are both traditional and innovative. In addition to many educational facilities, the Sisters sponsor about 200 health care facilities.

Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1831 in Dublin, Ireland.

In the United States the Sisters of Mercy are organized into regional provinces. Mercy Iowa City is affiliated with the Sisters of Mercy West Midwest Community of Omaha.

Who can use Mercy's services?
Anyone can use Mercy's services, regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, or ability to pay.

Mercy works with all insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid for payment of patient bills. Individuals can also pay privately or request financial assistance if necessary.
